to Joanne Koch's adaptation of Saul Bellow's "A Silver Dish" on Sunday
afternoon, May 15 at 2:30 P.M. at Spertus Institute, 618 S. Michigan
Avenue in Chicago. Saul Bellow: From the Page to the Stage includes
"A Silver Dish" and "The Old System" adapted by Sarah Blacher Cohen.
Both plays are directed by Sandy Shinner, Associate Artistic Director
of the Tony Award-winning Victory Gardens Theater and brought to life
by an outstanding ensemble of local actors.
Recently we lost Nobel laureate
Saul Bellow, one of our greatest and most beloved novelists. Join us
as we celebrate the life's work of this creative and insightful storyteller
with these staged readings of two of his acclaimed short stories. Admission
is $12.00, $8.00 for students. For

in the Loos Room of the Centennial Hall complex, 733 N. Eighth Street.

is director of National-Louis University's Master of Science in Written
Communication Program. She is the author or co-author of 14 plays produced
around the country, most recently American Klezmer with Sarah
Cohen, Ilya Levinson and Owen Kalt which will open in September in Los
Angeles, Courage like a wild horse, an adaptation of the book
by Native American artist Okee Chee which will be produced in Chicago
this Fall, Safe Harbor, presented last year at NLU and Beth Emet
in Evanston after annual productions in Chicago, and Soul Sisters
with Sarah Cohen, which toured to 27 universities around the country
and will be published in 2006 in the new anthology Shared Stages,
which includes Driving Miss Daisy, Fires in the Mirror and I'm Not
